ABOUT OUR MEMBERSHIP

Membership in the Montego Bay High School Alumnae Association of NY, Inc. is a source of immense pride. It’s about cherishing our connection to Montego Bay High School (MBHS) and being part of an association that actively empowers both current and past students. As alumnae, you hold the legacy of our beloved alma mater in your hands. By joining forces with fellow alumnae, you contribute to our mission of “Empowering our sisters, the future leaders.” Your support plays a pivotal role in shaping the future and well-being of Montego Bay High School.

Here are the key details about membership:

Eligibility: Membership is open to all former students of Montego Bay High School.

Associate Membership: Spouses, immediate family members of past students, and supporters interested in the association’s work can apply for Associate Membership.

Approval Process: All membership applications are reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors.

Membership Categories:

Alumna: Alumnae in good standing have the privilege to vote on matters presented at annual members’ meetings and are eligible to hold office.
Associate: Associate members, while ineligible for office but may chair committees at the board’s discretion.
Inactive: This category accommodates members who are not currently active but wish to maintain their connection with MBHS.
Additionally, please note that an alumna serving as an elected or appointed officer for another MBHS Alumnae association is ineligible to hold such a position in our association.

Our accomplishments span a wide range and include:

Contributing to the purchase of a school bus.
Hosting six annual benefit balls from 2014 to 2019.
Successfully achieving our 2020 vision fundraising goal of $50,000 to support the school’s expansion and modernization.
During the challenging times of the 2020 pandemic, we partnered for a three-day virtual celebration, raising over 2.7 million Jamaican dollars.
Granted over 129 educational awards, valued at approximately $40,000 USD.
Provided scholarships for higher education.
Donated 40 laptops in 2021.
Partnered with local nonprofits for annual toy drives and meal services.

Membership is open to all past students, with associate membership available to supporters. The annual dues are $50, or you can take advantage of the discounted rate of $90 for two years. Contributions of any amount are welcome and are tax-deductible.
